David Weekley, who came out on August 30th of 2009 in the United Methodist Church as a transgender person. He transistioned 35 years ago, before becoming ordained. We are only six months into being out, and are now beginning to experience the denomination trying to silence and slander us....there is fear, anxiety etc. I would not want David to have remained in stealth any longer. It was killing him. And he was building up the strength of the oppressor with his life energy. (Though hoping to change the denomination by working from within during the last 27 years.)
